Who the hell is Heller?

I’m equal parts creative, analytical, passionate and empathetic with a dash of quirk.

My “real name” is Laurie, but no one calls me that.

More about me

I’ve been at this marketing thing for quite a while and I’ve worn a lot of hats along the way. In other words, I've pretty much learned how to stay up all night obsessing over tiny details. In fancy grown-up terms, you could also say I've learned how to set the strategic direction of a brand.  I've worked across traditional and digital and I know how critical it is to tie everything together in one cohesive package.

Anyone who's worked with me will tell you I'm extremely passionate about what I do. There are two switches with me; on and off (and nothing in between). Sometimes I'm up until the wee hours of the morning scouring the web for the perfect song for a video, or pouring over images, websites, copy, and analytics to make sure things look, sound, perform, and work just right.

Building a brand is like building a personality— and if you don’t have one that stands out, you have nothing.

Work has taken me from NYC to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and back again. These days, I live in Brooklyn with my husband, chess nerd son, and quite a bit of '60s ephemera that I've collected along the way.

Outside of work, I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Human Rights (because that greater good thing I believe in… is for real). Beyond that, I adore music, art, architecture, interior design, technology, dark chocolate, and all things mid-century modern.  Oh, and the occasional spicy mezcal cocktail.

Top five things to know about me

  1. Professionally, I’ve done a lot of things: PR, events, copywriting, digital, social, marketing automation, paid media, brand, CRM, eCommerce — yep, I’m that whole Jane-of-all-trades thing…

  2. I’ve worked at massive companies (IBM, Oracle), and iconic brands (JanSport, Keds, Bass, and DreamWorks ) and recently have entered the nonprofit world.

  3. I love building teams, figuring out how things work, problem-solving, and understanding human behavior.

  4. I believe diverse teams and personality types are always the way to go (introverts can be goldmines).

  5. I once sent a singing telegram to a company to get their attention. And yes, I wrote the lyrics.
